About us

Mediation group at Gnoll Primary SchoolThe Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) believes that all children and young people have the right to be safe, happy and healthy and to develop their skills and potential through education. To show we are serious, we have signed up to something called the United National Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). One of these rights ("Article 12") says that children and young people should have a say when people are making decisions that affect them.

The pupil participation team in WAG is working to support your voice in school with a useful, social, fun and engaging website. The site aims to give you the information and materials you need to make the most of opportunities to play a more active role in your school. We hope that this will help you to work with adults to make your school a better place.

On this section of the site you can find out more about the UNCRC, what children and young people’s participation is and why it’s a good thing to develop, and what’s happening in Wales to support you having a voice in school.

If you would like to let us know what your school is doing to make sure that all pupils can play an active role in decision-making, send your case study to: childrenandyoungpeoplesrights@wales.gsi.gov.uk

Enjoy!
