Llangyfelach Primary School:Young Enterprise

Our pupils are fully involved in leading the learning through the contexts for learning and the ways in which they cover our skills based curriculum. I could relay a number of topics which have been driven by children and which yielded high standards of learning. One of these was a topic on chocolate which was instigated by the pupils requesting a trip to Cadbury World at the beginning of term.

I envisaged a project on fair trade but the children wanted to create their own chocolate bar, packaging and advertising. With the help of local companies an amazing project unfolded and standards reached were above level 5.

The pupils were totally in control of their learning and this was the beginning of a new way of working in our school.
